The role
The role provides front-line analytical and reporting support to Syndicates 218 and 1856, as well as to the Financial Planning and Analytics team, focusing on decision support, report development, and data analysis. It involves daily collaboration with Underwriters and Product Managers across Syndicate 218, advancing reporting outputs and actionable insights. The position supports the creation of self-serve dashboards and reporting solutions for various business functions, ensuring consistent access to key metrics.
It also covers the production of scheduled, business-as-usual reports for Syndicate 218. A key part of the role includes partnering with the Sales & Marketing team to develop analysis that supports market performance and strategic targeting, while also engaging with Finance teams to enhance cross-functional reporting capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Support Finance Business Partners and Financial Planning and Analytics team in the production and delivery of recurring senior management and Executive reporting together with specific granular business area reports (e.g., performance & exceptions packs).
- Support the wider Business MI team functions, particularly Finance Systems - Decision Support, working collaboratively with line management, to balance resource, demands and priorities accordingly.
- Design, develop and produce reports to meet Finance and business needs
- Gather relevant financial and operating information to support further in-depth analysis.
- Co-ordinate and collate responses from the business in support of commentary information and findings for report delivery.
- Identifying key trends and areas of opportunity highlighting them to business partners.
- Support requirements gathering and handle ad-hoc queries and in-depth financial and business analysis. Source and collate third party information.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Experience and knowledge of Insurance methods of trading, industry operational practices and procedures.
- Understanding of data structures and experience of extracting and utilising data to drive key strategic decisions, including the production of insightful analysis.
- Appreciation of the industry and market legal, regulatory and compliance provisions and the broker channels to market.
- Strong Excel (to macro level).
- SQL language and knowledge of SQL databases
- Power BI
Preferred but not essential:
- IBM Planning Analytics (TM1)
- Python programming experience
- SSAS cube structured reporting
- MS Report Builder / Reporting Services
Microsoft Office products.
