The role
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical exposure to the claims function within the Specialty London Market.
The intern will play a supportive role within the Claims Team, assisting with a range of administrative and operational tasks that contribute to the efficient handling of claims. Responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records, preparing documentation, and supporting the day-to-day workflow of the team.
The role is designed to provide insight into the end-to-end claims process through observation, shadowing experienced Claims Handlers, and participating in team activities.
By the end of the placement, the intern will have developed a foundational understanding of claims operations, market practices, and the regulatory environment, while also building key professional skills such as communication, organisation, and attention to detail
Key responsibilities
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Claims Team across a variety of tasks.
- Assist senior team members and claims management with large or complex claims, as well as departmental projects.
- Undertake day-to-day activities within the claims function, including data processing, document preparation, and file maintenance.
- Produce and collate management information (MI) and reports to support internal analysis and decision-making.
- Support the management of static claims and contribute to the upkeep of internal claims databases and spreadsheets.
- Participate in the maintenance and organisation of claims records in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory standards.
- Shadow experienced Claims Handlers to gain insight into the claim’s lifecycle and market practices.
- Engage with other departments that collaborate with the Motor Claims team to gain a broader understanding of the business and its operations.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience
- A demonstrable interest in insurance, claims, or the wider financial services industry.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and process information accurately.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with a logical and methodical approach to tasks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Organised and reliable, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under supervision.
- Willingness to learn and engage with different areas of the business.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
